Womens MegaWarm Jacket
The World's Warmest Jacket
The MegaWarm jacket is the ultimate LifeLabs innovation, giving you the warmth you need at the top of a mountain or on the coldest winter days in the city. Fully waterproof and remarkably light for its scale and coverage, the MegaWarm Jacket defies common standards for insulated apparel. With the highest CLO rating of any jacket in existence (9.25), MegaWarm is the planet’s warmest jacket.
Details
We took every measure to optimize the performance of our materials, from the patented metallized shell to the “boxed baffles” that contain our 800-fill power down. These more evenly distribute down inside the jacket, eliminating the cold spots caused by traditional quilt-through baffles. This supports even more reflectivity of infrared heat back to the body.
Comfort is maximized at every point of skin contact. Brushed jersey ups the cozy factor by lining the interior collar and chin guard. A lightly-gathered taffeta gasket traps air in the core body area, without adding weight. A rib knit baseball collar eliminates draft at the neck, while rib knit cuffs hug the wrists and seal in warmth. The fully adjustable hood is tailored to fit over a beanie/ball cap, and bears a firm, adjustable hood brim. A fully taped outer shell delivers true waterproofing.
Why we like it
- Warmest jacket on Earth, with a CLO rating of 9.25 (38% warmer than the Canada Goose Snow Mantra)
- Ultra-packable and lightweight; exceptional freedom of movement
- Fully waterproof yet still breathable
- Less overall environmental impact using much less material to keep you warm
- Uses ethically sourced goose down
What is CLO?
CLO is a value that describes the degree of insulation provided by an article of clothing. The higher an item's CLO rating, the warmer (and more comfortable) it will keep you.
Care
Low-impact care instructions
- Machine wash cold with like colors
- Tumble dry low, or line dry for less energy use
- Do not iron, bleach or dry clean
- Wash less often to have less impact
WarmLife garments keep you warm, but these technical fabrics also like the cold. To protect the metallization that provides no-bulk reflective warmth in your WarmLife apparel, wash by hand or machine or with cold water on a gentle cycle. Then tumble dry low or no heat, or better yet line dry or dry flat. It’s better for the earth and helps your WarmLife threads live their fullest lives. Do not bleach, iron, or dry clean. Keep WarmLife cool so it can keep you warmer.

Staying warm is increasingly important as the world experiences more pronounced weather extremes. We asked ourselves a question: how can we help people stay warmer while reducing the environmental impact of our clothing?
Fabric that warms, so the Earth doesn’t have to. WarmLife is a proprietary technology that creates warmer, breathable apparel with less material. It’s warmth without restriction.
WarmLife delivers clothing that is 30% warmer than comparable items. Our WarmLife technology is also lighter and more packable than apparel that uses virgin or recycled insulation.
WarmLife uses less than a paper clip’s worth of aluminum to reflect 100% of your radiant body heat back onto your skin, with 30 percent less material than similar items for a higher warmth-to-weight ratio. WarmLife allows you to pack lighter, move more freely and lower your environmental footprint.
Our unique production process allows us to work with a range of fabrics including ultra-breathable, lightweight fabric that ensures the most comfortable fit.
Sustainability Index
We make every effort to reduce this product’s impact on the earth.
MegaWarm is shipped without excess: no tags, plastic, or swift tacks. Its protective wrapping is a reusable garment bag for off-season storage.
Our MegaWarm Jacket is constructed with 87% recycled materials by fabric weight.
We use 100% recycled polyester labels and sewing thread.
Recycled zippers (YKK Natulon)
This garment uses trims that are 50% bio-based, made from agricultural waste from rice stems and husks.
PFC-free DWR (durable water repellent without forever chemicals)
10% reduced chemical impact
17% less fossil fuel depletion
2% less water pollution
7% fewer CO2 emissions
Compared to products that use non-recycled polyester. Based on Higg MSI 3.2 data at Higg.org Percentage reductions pertain to the finished material phase.

A-Z
CLO Rating
- The standard measurement of how warm a textile keeps you (the higher the CLO, the warmer you are).
- The degree of insulation provided by an article of clothing.
- LifeLabs CLO levels are significantly higher than materials almost 30% heavier.
Infrared Radiation
- A type of electromagnetic radiation produced when atoms absorb and then release energy with a frequency lower than visible light.
- Thermal energy your body is producing all the time.
Emissivity
- The measure of an object's ability to emit infrared energy (heat by radiation).
- A low-emissivity material (like aluminum) acts as a radiant barrier and decreases the amount of infrared radiant heat that escapes.
Higg Index
- A tool for the apparel and footwear industry to assess the environmental impacts of raw materials and the lifecycle impacts of products.
- The industry-leading value chain measurement methodology developed by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition.
Nanoporous
- A regular organic or inorganic framework supporting a porous structure.
- A nano-scale cell structure that allows body heat to escape through pores to maximize comfort.
PFC
- Perfluorinated chemicals, or a subset of perfluorinated chemicals called perfluorocarbons are traditionally used in textile manufacturing to provide water repellency.
- LLD uses PFC-free water repellent finishes to lower or impact on the environment and human health.
Polymer
- Large molecules made by bonding (chemically linking) a series of building blocks.
- Polymers are chains of chemically bonded atoms.
Polyethylene
- A material that conducts infrared heat away from your skin at a higher, more efficient rate.
- Polyethylene has a low Materials Sustainability Index rating compared to conventional synthetic fibers used in apparel today.
QMax Index
- Measurement of thermal transport.
- A higher Qmax value indicates a faster tranfer of heat from the body to the fabric surface, resulting in a cooling effect.
- A measure of predicting the warm/cool feeling of fabrics.
Reflection
- The return of light, sound or heat from a surface.
- A reflective fabric or material reflects the body's heat back to itself.
Thermoregulation
- A type of homeostasis and a means of preserving a stable internal temperature in order to survive.
- Thermoregulation is the maintenance of a relatively constant core body temperature.
Transparency
- Allowing the passage of a specified form of radiation.
- Honest and open; without secrets or deceit. Transparency in materials means that the textile barrier blocks natural elements (like rain and sunlight) and allows other to pass through (like persperation and body heat.)
